A Neighbor Running for Neighbors — Berkeley County First.

WHY AM I RUNNING?

Berkeley County is one of the fastest-growing counties in West Virginia. New homes are going up faster than schools, roads, water, and emergency services can keep pace with. Charleston is approving deals that take from this county and give back a fraction. The people paying the bills are getting heard the least.

I’m a citizen first and a Democrat second. I show up to the meetings, don’t accept money from lobbyists or special interest groups, which is probably why I don’t have any (please donate!) and I don’t owe the current legislature a favor.

Mike Hite has run unopposed long enough. It's time to send representation to Charleston that shows up and answers to Berkeley County first.

THE ISSUES

  • SAFETY AND IMPACT FEES

We don't need a new fee. We need our impact fee on developers brought up to Jefferson County's level, and
we need the state to fund locality pay for everybody that works for our county. Locality pays locality pay. period.

  • Data Center / HB 2014

Berkeley County keeps roughly 30% of the data center tax revenue. The state takes 70%. That MUST change.

  • THE RAIN TAX

Berkeley County is the only county in West Virginia paying a stormwater fee. A duck is a duck. A fee is a tax.

  • SCHOOLS & GROWTH

We're paying to build infrastructure for growth we never approved while developers get away with an almost-nothing impact fee.
